Hey all,
Hawaii’s premier cover band the SoulZ welcomes you to the SoulZ blog where you can post your questions, comments, songs suggestions or just talk story about the “good old days”.
Most of us got our start playing music back in the seventies when the live music scene here was hot, playing at parties for social clubs in someones living room, at the YMCA or at the high school gym.  Some of us had the opportunity to play in Waikiki back then when live bands ruled.  On any given night from one end of Kalakaua Ave to the other the sound of music being played by local musician echoed to the wee hours of the morning.
You know it’s always a challenge trying to keep our set list fresh and we are always open for suggestions from you.  So, if you’ve got a favorite song that you like to boogie or sway to, drop us a note.

New News!

Quick update on a few things:

There’s a new slideshow on the homepage from SoulZ April 10th gig at Hawaiian Brian’s HB Lounge. Hope you enjoy it!

The archives page has been cleaned-up and all the broken links have been removed [ I think : ) ]. One of the sites hosting the old slideshows has shutdown so I will not be reposting those shows. Please let me know if you find anything broken on that page that I may have missed. My email address is nikki@soulzrock.com. Thank you very much in advance!

Finally, here is the updated information for “The Beat” event happening on Saturday, May 22nd from 7:30 to 11:30PM. It will be at a new venue for SoulZ at the Amuse Bar/Cupola Events Theater in:
the Honolulu Design Center (this is a link to their website)
on Kapiolani Blvd between Pensacola & Piikoi St.
1250 KAPIOLANI BLVD.
Second Floor

We will be sharing the stage with Shining Star and Funkshun!
Tickets are $35 presale / $40 at the door which includes complimentary appetizers and an Amuse Bar wine card.
Valet parking will be available. (please check our Newspage for more info about parking availability, location of, and
directions to the Design Center)

Website updates & New gigs!

The website has a new poster on the homepage and newspage for SoulZ May 8th gig at the HB Lounge. Also just updated the newspage with a whole slew of new gig dates. The band has a new “The Beat” gig coming up on May 22nd at “The Stage” in the Honolulu Design Center building. Details about the other participating bands, ticket prices, etc. should be available soon. I’ll be sure to update you all as soon as I find out. Currently working on a new slideshow slated to come out before the HB gig. That’s all for now…..g’nite!………..nikki : )

New slideshow posted and more updates!

New updates for the soulzrock website. The homepage has a brand new slideshow from SoulZ final performance at the Lily Koi Restaurant & Lounge. Unfortunately, Lily Koi closed as of Friday, February 5th. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have supported us over the years at this venue. You are a fun-loving, wonderful bunch of people and we really appreciated your coming out to hear our music and dancing the night away!
The Archives page has also been updated. I’ve finally added back the last couple of slideshows that were taken down from the homepage.
The News page is a little bare this month since I haven’t been able to post a calendar and am awaiting word from the group on confirmation of many future gig dates.
I am also still working on the pictures from the last The Beat at Paparazzi. Hope to have that posted before the next SoulZ gig at Ige’s Restaurant & 19th Puka on Friday, February 26th. Should be lots of fun as Jules and the boys haven’t gigged there for a while. Hope to see you all there!…….nikki : )

Just completed updating the website homepage with the new slideshow from SoulZ January 16th gig at Hawaiian Brian’s HB Lounge. Also added a new note from Rodney on the newspage with a special message for those of you planning to attend “The Beat” at Paparazzi (formerly BrewMoon) this Saturday. SoulZ at “The Beat” January 30th, 2010

 Wasabi, Kingpins and SoulZ will be teaming up to bring you a night of dancing  to live music from the 60’s and 70’s at “The Beat” January 30^th from 6-10PM at Paparazzi (formerly The Brew Moon) in the Ward Center.

Website Updates!

Just finished uploading the updates to the Soulzrock Home page, News Page, and also the Archives. I know it’s late but, you know….the Holidays and all…so very sorry.

Also, please don’t forget about their upcoming gig at Hawaiian Brian’s HB Lounge on Saturday the 16th. AND…there’s a new “The Beat” happening on the 30th of January at Paparazzi (the former BrewMoon). They haven’t given me all the details yet but please keep checking the website and this blog for more information as it becomes available. I DO know that Wasabi and The Kingpins are also scheduled to perform with SOULZ so it looks to be a very exciting event!………………nikki : )

There’s a new slideshow on the SoulZ home page  from their performance at “The Beat” on November 21st. The Newspage has also been updated with a special Holiday message from Rodney and the gang (and a very cute picture of Dixie!). Hope you’re all enjoying this Holiday Season. Take it easy…don’t stress…and don’t forget to smile, because a smile costs nothing and can sometimes mean everything to someone in need.
